Lawyer in Norwalk invents virtual reality pitching simulator

(05/28/04) NORWALK - Greg Battersby, a patent attorney in Norwalk, has invented a pro-batter machine. The machines are virtual reality pitching simulators.

Battersby says the simulators project video of pitchers, including two former Bridgeport Bluefish, and synchronizes their pitches to the video.

There are four machines at The Batting Cage facility in Fairfield. According to Battersby, the New York Mets and the Boston Red Sox have a machine. Currently, there are 80 pro-batter machines in operation throughout the country.
